The Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA) is the only Microsoft licensing agreement under which you can grant access to your Microsoft applications to users outside internal staff (and even direct customers in many cases).
You will need the SPLA if you:
Host websites on Microsoft software for other organizations
Rent out PCs, servers or laptops with Microsoft software installed on them.
Microsoft Dynamics CRM and Microsoft Dynamics ERP allow other organizations including external consultants and contractors to use any of your applications that are built on Microsoft software such as Windows Server or SQL Server and, in the words of the agreement itself "[you provide services to] Customers that make available, display, run, access, or otherwise interact, directly or indirectly, with the Licensed Products."
Other organizations such as IT Outsourcers and Consultants choose to utilize the SPLA as it allows them to deliver software services as part of their entire offering.
6 important things about SPLA:
No upfront costs for software
Pay monthly only for what you use
Simple licensing - per user or per processor
Global reach - deliver services around the world
Latest versions all the time
Free demos, tests and evaluations
